About the Venue
Named after Andreas Vesalius — the Renaissance physician from Leuven who revolutionised our understanding of the human body — the Aula Vesalius is one of KU Leuven’s most iconic lecture halls. It sits within the historic Vesalius Institute building on the edge of the old city centre, blending academic heritage with a modern, theatre-style auditorium.
With its raked seating, strong acoustics, and central location, it is the ideal setting for an afternoon of powerful talks and inspiring stories. Whether it’s your first time visiting or you know Leuven well, the venue is easy to find and simple to reach.

How to Get There
By Train & Bus
- Arrive at Leuven Station.
- Head to the bus platforms at the main exit.
- Take Bus 2 or Bus 600 towards Heverlee / Buitenring.
- Exit at “Leuven Campus Vesalius” — the venue is right there.
By Car
- There is no public parking on site (staff only).
- Parking Ladeuze — Monseigneur Ladeuzeplein 20 (~7 min walk)
- Parking Center — Van Benedenstraat 2 (~10 min walk)
By Bike
- Leuven is very bike-friendly.
- Bike racks are available outside the entrance on Andreas Vesaliusstraat.
Getting here from the airport
Coming from Brussels Airport (BRU)? The easiest option is usually: train to Leuven Station, then continue to Aula Vesalius.
Suggested route
- At BRU, follow signs to the railway station (Brussels Airport–Zaventem).
- Take a train to Leuven / Louvain.
- From Leuven Station, follow directions to Aula Vesalius (bus or walking).
Tip: If you’re taking a taxi/ride-hail from the airport, set your destination to:
Andreas Vesaliusstraat 11, 3000 Leuven.
Accessibility
- A wheelchair-accessible lift is located to the left of the main staircase, giving access to the foyer and auditorium.
- Adapted sanitary facilities are available and accessible via the elevator.
